Borrow a Free E-bike from the Merri-bek E-bike Library

Curious about riding an e-bike but not ready to buy one? The Merri-bek E-bike Library gives local residents the chance to borrow an e-bike for free for up to two weeks.

Whether you're commuting to work, running errands, visiting friends or simply exploring your neighbourhood, an e-bike is an affordable, healthy and environmentally friendly way to get around. The library makes it easy to experience the benefits of electric cycling before deciding whether it's right for you.

What’s Available?

We have two e-bikes available to borrow: the Veloomi and the Benno Boost.

Veloomi

  • Best suited for one adult rider.

  • Can carry one child up to approximately 2 years old using the rear child seat.

Benno Boost Cargo Bike

  • Can carry one child (around 5 years old) on the front passenger seat and one child (up to approximately 2 years old) in the rear child seat.

  • Alternatively, the rear rack can comfortably seat two older children (approximately 5 and 7 years old) without the child seat attached.

Our team will help you get set up so you're ready to ride safely and confidently.

Who Can Borrow?

The E-bike Library is open to anyone who:

  • Lives in Merri-bek

  • Is aged 18 years or over

  • Knows how to ride a bicycle

  • Has their own bike helmet

  • Has secure, off-street storage for the e-bike while on loan

  • Has Bicycle Network Rider Insurance

Loan Period

Each bike can be borrowed free of charge for up to 2 weeks, giving you plenty of time to experience what everyday life with an e-bike is like.
